On 22 April 2026, Green Compost in Agriculture for Development (GCAD) proudly joined the global community in commemorating International Mother Earth Day, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
Inspired by the principles of the 1992 Rio Declaration, International Mother Earth Day serves as a global call to promote harmony with nature and strengthen our collective responsibility to protect the planet for present and future generations.
To mark this important occasion, GCAD highlighted its ongoing efforts to promote sustainable environmental practices through:
- Sustainable waste management.
- Restoration of degraded forests and landscapes.
- Rebuilding soil health through composting.
- Promoting climate-smart cash crop planting.
GCAD recognizes that our planet continues to face increasing pressure from deforestation, pollution, and unsustainable farming practices. These challenges require collective action from individuals, communities, organizations, and governments to restore ecosystems and build a more sustainable future.
As part of its mission, GCAD remains committed to transforming organic waste into valuable resources, restoring soil health, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and empowering communities to protect the environment.
International Mother Earth Day reminds us that protecting our environment is a shared responsibility. Together, we can restore balance to nature, safeguard our ecosystems, and create a healthier, greener, and more sustainable Sierra Leone for generations to come.
