GCAD Joins the World in Celebrating International Compost Awareness Week 2026

Green Compost in Agriculture for Development (GCAD) proudly joins the global community in celebrating International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) 2026, observed on 7 May 2026, under the global theme:

“Compost Feeds the Soil That Feeds Us.”

This year’s global theme reminds us that composting is more than a practice—it is a way of life and a shared responsibility that contributes to healthier soils, stronger food systems, and a more sustainable environment.

As part of the celebration, GCAD is promoting its local campaign theme:

“From Chemicals to Compost for Healthy Soil.”

Through its work across Sierra Leone, GCAD continues to empower farmers with practical knowledge and sustainable agricultural solutions that:

  • Restore soil health through the use of organic compost.
  • Reduce dependence on harmful chemical fertilizers.
  • Improve crop yields through sustainable farming practices.
  • Promote climate-smart and regenerative agriculture.

GCAD invites farmers, partners, stakeholders, and the general public to join this important celebration and movement toward a cleaner environment, healthier soils, and a more resilient food system.

Together, we can turn waste into wealth and build a sustainable future for our communities.
