Green Compost in Agriculture for Development (GCAD) proudly joins the global community in celebrating International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) 2026, observed on 7 May 2026, under the global theme:
“Compost Feeds the Soil That Feeds Us.”
This year’s global theme reminds us that composting is more than a practice—it is a way of life and a shared responsibility that contributes to healthier soils, stronger food systems, and a more sustainable environment.
As part of the celebration, GCAD is promoting its local campaign theme:
“From Chemicals to Compost for Healthy Soil.”
Through its work across Sierra Leone, GCAD continues to empower farmers with practical knowledge and sustainable agricultural solutions that:
- Restore soil health through the use of organic compost.
- Reduce dependence on harmful chemical fertilizers.
- Improve crop yields through sustainable farming practices.
- Promote climate-smart and regenerative agriculture.
GCAD invites farmers, partners, stakeholders, and the general public to join this important celebration and movement toward a cleaner environment, healthier soils, and a more resilient food system.
Together, we can turn waste into wealth and build a sustainable future for our communities.
